Dr. Bubbles

Tea and Coffee Bubbling your Way!

3 Cheers for Dr. Bubbles!

Dr. Bubbles is a pretty famous name outside India, but now it has been brought home on demand! Bubble tea is the name given to their drink that is special and unique when compared to all the drinks you might have had a sip of so far.

They provide you with a wide variety of refreshing flavored fruit teas, coffees and shakes which is either served ice cold or piping hot with cherry natural tapioca balls that you can suck in through the big fat straw provided to you along with your novel drink.

Bobas in your Drink?

Well, the tapioca balls in the drink are referred to as ‘pearls’ or ’bobas’ and that is what eventually became bubbles. That was not something I knew, but isn’t it weird?

They have special machines that make their tapioca balls, and also to make their unique shakes and teas.

Where did it start bubbling from?

The origins of bubble tea are found in Taiwan, where the drink was invented in the early 1980’s. In Taiwan, everyone was busy chewing and slurping the new craze that was already starting to take the country and the rest of the world by storm. This then further spread to other Asian countries, and then to North America and Australia as well.

Lot of research and brainstorming methodologies went into the whole concept of bubble teas. They followed strict rules of preparation and after a lot of research and analysis, they brought in the Taiwanese Bubble Tea, which now they are proud to present in India! They came in first to Mumbai where they have more than 5 branches spread across the city. They also have branches open in Gujarat, Hyderabad, Indore and Delhi. Now they have opened in Jayanagar, Bangalore and are planning to launch 3 to 4 more branches in a couple of months.

My Pick!

So their base is basically green tea, black/red tea, milk tea, or even coffee, and then it is infused with fruit flavorings of your choice with the tapioca balls that just pop in your mouth as you sip on them. Well to explain how it tastes exactly is not something easy, so I’d suggest giving these a shot! Trust me, it is completely worth it. Probably after one of those days where you’re sweating and need just a cool drink to calm you down, or a warm one to get you rid of a headache, this is definitely one of those places. My favorite combo was that of an Iced Tea with Lychee and Watermelon bobas in it!

Size and Price

The Milk & Yogurt Shakes are 160 and 190 for small and large sizes respectively, and the Iced Tea & Coffees are 140 and 160 for small and large sizes respectively. Depending on the branches you visit, you might be also lucky to find another range of Hot chais and hot coffees and also some square and bubble waffles that range from 150 all the way to 300 depending on how special it is *winks* !
